As a Holy Land of Taoism and a cradle of Wudang martial art, Wudang Mountains have a long history over 2000 years. At the end of Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) and the beginning of Ming Dynasty(1368-1644), Wudang Taoist Zhang Sanfeng integrated the main achievements of Wudang Boxing and created the Wudang inner Boxing, which made him the respectful founder of Wudang Martial Art. The martial art of Wudang has been once unknown to the outside for fairly a long time due to the tradition of Taoism of instructing privately.

This year, legendary Grandmaster Qian Zhaohong will not be coming personally to Scandinavia to hold the annual spring camps. Instead he is sending his son Qian Shiying. The content of these quality workshops will still be Xin Yi, Qi Gong and Tai Chi. Just like his father, Qian Shiying is one of the foremost experts of Xin Yi, aswell as other Chinese martial arts, in the world.

As usual there will be three spring camps, two in Denmark and one in Sweden. Qian Shiying will be in Sweden for five days, from April 3 to 8. The Swedish workshop week will take place at Kung-Fu Sweden Headquarters in Malmoe. Each day will be divided into two sessions, one morning session from 9.30 – 12.00 pm, and one afternoon session from 14.30 – 17.00 pm, with a break in between. It’s the start of a new semester at the schools of Kung Fu Sweden. On January 24, at Kung-Fu Sweden Headquarters in Malmoe there will be an introduction for new members, with information and demonstrations of the different martial arts systems practiced within Kung-Fu Sweden. We start the new semester slowly here at Kung Fu Sweden. But many events are starting to pile up in the calendar. Be sure to take a peek in it to see if there’s something in it for you. The next date to think about is September 26 at Malmö Wing-Tsun school, where we hold a full day event that we call “The Game”.

10.00-13.00: Training in the sensitivity and reflex training method of Wing-Tsun, “Sticky hands” (Chi-Sao).
15.00-18.00: Training in the corresponding training method of Tai Chi Chuan, “Pushing Hands” (Tou Shou).

One of the reasons for this Event is to introduce and analyze the drills and training methods of the two stiles, Wing-Tsun and Tai Chi Chuan, and examine their similarities and differences. The participants are free to only attend one of the classes seperately, but the idea behind the event is for them to take part in both to get the most out of the training.

Don’t forget to bring food and water, it’s going to be a long and tough day. There will also be time between the classes to visit one of the many nearby restaurants for a meal.

By many regarded as one of the ten best kung fu masters in China, it is always a pleasure to have Master Qian Zhaohong here in Sweden. The style he primarily represents is the classic martial art Xinyi Liuhe Quan which is the precursor to many other, later systems. This style is known for its curative properties and its direct and aggressive nature. Xinyi Liuhe Quan is one of the most notorious and respected kung fu systems in China.

Master Qian Zhaohong comes to Sweden on a regular basis, twice a year. This is to ensure that the training is progressing in the style. During his week here, he also teaches in Wuji Qigong and Chan Taiji.

Master Qian Zhaohongs pedagogy is cordial and warm, and many students come back year after year. The training is structured so that everybody can be involved, new and old, well-trained as untrained. No previous knowledge required to participate. This is what we call real classic kung fu at its best.
